Understanding golfer's elbow

Golfer's elbow is degeneration of the tendons on the inside of the elbow, where they attach to the medial epicondyle. Despite the name, it affects far more than just golfers.

Understanding the Condition

What's actually happening in the tendon

Like its counterpart on the outside of the elbow, medial epicondylitis is a degenerative tendon condition, not simple inflammation.

Pain is centered on the inner elbow, sometimes radiating into the forearm
Common in golfers, but also in throwing athletes and manual laborers
Develops gradually from repetitive wrist flexion and forearm rotation
Ultrasound imaging can confirm tendon degeneration and guide treatment
